Jessie R. Hutchins, 71, Home Healthcare Aid, passed away February 7, 2018 in Glenpool, Oklahoma. Jessie was born February 22, 1946 in Okemah, Oklahoma to parents Leonard Skaggs and Lucille Watts Skaggs. Jessie was one of 7 Skaggs children, sharing her childhood with 4 sisters, Faye, Jennetta, Wonda and Helen and 2 brothers JM and Carl.
Although spending her early years in Oklahoma, Jessie spent a great deal of her life in Arizona. She attended school in Dysart, Arizona and at 18, married the man she would spend the rest of her life with, Leroy H. Hutchins. They were married in Sunnyslope, Arizona on May 5th, 1964 and would have celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary together this coming May. Their marriage was blessed with three children daughters Monica, Kimberly and son Kyle.
When asked rather recently, of all her travels and adventures, which was her favorite? She simply replied “wherever her children were”. This summed up Jessie as much as anything else that could be said. She made many memories with her family but by far some of the best were made when they all went camping or enjoyed a road trip travelling (destination anywhere) especially when her dogs joined in on the adventure!
Jessie was a well–rounded woman. She could tough it out camping in the woods but, was also had a talent for gardening and sewing. Jessie loved to learn new things and age had no bearing. She continued her education in her latter years to become a home healthcare aid and in recent years, she enrolled in computer classes!
For many years, Jessie attended the Church of Christ and more recently she attended Solace Church in Tulsa.
If Jessie had been asked what was her greatest accomplishment, she would have, without hesitation, said ‘her family’. She loved her children and loved her husband. They were her world and she cherished every memory made. Her heart only grew fuller when she became a grandmother and felt blessed to be able to welcome her great grandchildren into her family.
She will be missed by all those who loved her and whom she loved in return.
