Mike attended elementary school at Georgia Military Academy in Atlanta. The Williams family moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where Mike attended Harding Junior High School. He attended Oklahoma State University his freshman year and remained a lifelong Oklahoma State Cowboys fan.
August 9, 1969, Mike married Kathy Jean Burch at Portland Avenue Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Mike always made his living as a salesman. He sold two-way radios in the oil patch; corrugated boxes; carpet; golf equipment and his all-time favorite, cars, among other things.
Mike was an avid fisherman for many years. He and his favorite fishing buddy, Gary Bryant, fished together for many years and, as partners, won the Billy Parker Lucky “13” Bass Tournament on Fort Gibson Lake July 13, 1982. Mike and Gary won a new Skeeter bass boat and matching trailer for finishing in “13th” place among 210 teams. He and Gary also had some great times night fishing on Table Rock Lake, in Missouri.
A few years later, Mike became a golfer and golf was his favorite
sport for the rest of his life. He made many good friends during his golfing years, some of whom he played with for 30 years. During his golfing years he made two certified holes-in-one. He made the very first hole-in-one at Forest Ridge Golf Links on the 15th hole, a 170-yard par 3, on October 8, 1989. If he had made that first hole-in-one a week earlier, he would have won $50,000 for himself and $50,000 for Ronald McDonald House. On the tenth anniversary of Forest Ridge Golf Links, Mike was presented with the 15th hole tee box marker. He also made a hole-in-one at South Lakes Golf Course in 1996.
Mike is survived by his wife, Kathy; son, Michael; daughter, Krista Carlin; Son-in-law, Jason Carlin and two grandsons, Spencer Carlin and Ben Carlin.
