Clarence Dane Walker, 45, Sales Supervisor, passed away May 4, 2017 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Clarence “Denny” was born July 20, 1971 in Utica, New York to parents Clarence Benny Walker and Mary Lois Darby Walker.
Denny attended North Intermediate High School in Broken Arrow and Broken Arrow Senior High School. Although Denny left High School prior to graduating, he later realized the importance of having an education and worked very hard, enrolling in Career Point College, and successfully acquired his GED. He was very proud of this as was his family.
Denny loved football, basketball and ran track at Skelly Middle School. He was interested in just about any sport on a competitive level even swimming. When he did swim, it was with a graceful style. Denny’s true love in the sports field would have to be T.U. Football. He
was a devoted fanatic when it came T.U.. He was known to quote statistics with each of the teams but, especially with T.U. He was a loyal and obsessed Tulsa University fan starting with Nolan Richardson era in the ‘80’s. Denny collected memorabilia of T.U. such as hats, posters, newspaper articles and many priceless and beloved pictures taken of himself with the team.
Denny was an animal lover and adored his 2 cats Maggie and Maxwell. He would play with them, showering them with love and attention and took many pictures with them. Denny also had a soft heart when it came to the neighborhood strays. He would often play with them as well and, much to his mothers dismay, feed them. Well, of course this meant that there would often times be a rather large grouping of hungry strays at the Walker house. Denny’s mom quickly curtailed this activity but, she was sure his loving heart continued to sneak tidbits of food to them on occasion. Denny was also the caretaker of a variety of birds and loved to feed them as well.
Denny was a talented and gifted singer. His music teacher at Audubon Elementary school recommended him to a well known boys group called The Tulsa Boys Singers where he had to audition. He was accepted and this was another proud moment in his and his family’s life.
Denny loved people and could talk to anyone. He had a very gregarious personality and it is said that he never knew a stranger. He loved helping others young and old when they needed help. He was thoughtful, kind and generous with his time and energy. Denny had a wonderful sense of humor and was always very funny. He loved to make people smile.
Denny will be remembered as a loving son, proud father, loyal brother and a truly devoted T.U. fan. He will be missed by all those who loved him and whom he loved in return.
Denny is survived by his daughter Shali Jordan; parents Clarence and Mary Walker; brother Pastor Virgil Walker; sister-in-law Tomeka D. Walker and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many friends.
